Some numbers about the 39th International Willems® Congress / Udine – Italy
Dates: from 17 to 22 July 2023.
Place: “Jacopo Tomadini” Higher Conservatory of Music in Udine.
- 104 people, including 52 delegates, 46 students in training and 6 one-off visitors (for 5 workshops or one day) from 5 countries – Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Slovenia.
- 8 speakers of 4 different nationalities:

- 10 Plenums: 5 lessons given to Italian and Slovenian children and young people, preceded by 5 moments of musical listening to open the day.
- 28 Workshops: 4 daily timeslots of 1 hour 15 minutes, each with 7 thematic proposals.
- 191 hours of services provided in total: between the 10 plenary sessions (10 hrs), the 35 workshops (175 hrs) and the 5 concerts (6 hrs), not counting the secretariat and stewardship!
- 8hrs 15mins per day for delegates, including the concert, excluding breaks and meals, i.e. 41hrs 15mins for the 5 days of the Congress.
- 5 languages used: the workshops were given mainly in Italian, French, Spanish, English and Slovenian, translated according to the needs of the participants.
Some numbers about the 10th WIC meeting:
Willems® International Choir / Udine – Italy
- 80 young people aged 8 to 21 of 4 different nationalities.
30 French, 23 Spanish, 18 Slovenians, 9 Italians, divided into 2 groups:
WIC 2, 38 children aged 8 to 12, and WIC 1, 42 young people aged 13 to 21.
- 9 FIW “Associate Member” schools involved in the project: 3 French, 2 Spanish, 3 Italian and 1 Slovenian.
- 3 music teachers: Benjamin Lunetta for WIC 2, Mariana Delgadillo for WIC 1, and Ferdinando Mussutto for piano accompaniment.
- 7 counsellors to supervise the youngsters outside of musical time.
- 6 hours of daily rehearsals on site for 5.5 days, i.e. 33 hours for the week of the course.
- 1 concert lasting 1h15 on the last day, bringing together the 2 WICs at the “Chiesa di San Petro Martire” in Udine.
- 10 works studied for each group, including 2 shared works, making a total of 18 for the concert, in 7 languages – Italian, French, Catalan, Spanish, Slovenian and German.
