Erasmus+ project in Ljubljana: 1st stage

In February, a wonderful Erasmus+ project, funded by the EU, started in Ljubljana. This project is being implemented in cooperation between the Edgar Willems® Music Center (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and the Willems® International Federation (Lyon, France).

Students from four music schools from Ljubljana and Lyon will participate: Edgar Willems® Music Center / Mateja Tomac Calligaris, who initiated the project, Ecole Willems® Ryméa , Lyon / Benjamin Lunetta, Association Musicale d’Irigny / Christophe Voidey, and Students from four music schools from Ljubljana and Lyon will participate: Edgar Willems® Music Center / Mateja Tomac Calligaris, Ecole Willems® Ryméa , Lyon / Benjamin Lunetta, Association Musicale d’Irigny / Christophe Voidey, and Maîtrise de la Primatiale Saint Jean-Baptiste de Lyon / Thibaut Louppe.

The closing concert will take place on April 30th in Lyon at the Church of St. Irénée.

The music program will include mainly sacral music by various composers of the 20th century. We will also include a presentation of selected Slovenian composers.

Professors are also involved in the project, attending the pedagogical work of their colleagues, exchanging opinions and experiences and participating to various lectures and talks.

As mentioned, the project started in Ljubljana, where Benjamin Lunetta was a guest from 14th to 18th February.
Countertenor, singing teacher and director of Ryméa, Benjamin Lunetta worked with a group of 15 singers from the Edgar Willems® Music Center and gave two lectures for professors, where he presented his pedagogical work and various projects he has performed, especially the opera ‘The Idea’ (G. Holst) with the pupils of Ryméa, and an intergenerational project for music lovers of all ages.

Benjamin Lunetta and Mateja Tomac Calligaris also visited the art project for children “From the Belly of an Anaconda” (https://www.cd-cc.si/en/culture/young-people-and-schools/belly-anaconda), which was organized by Glasbena matica Ljubljana (https://www.glasbenamatica.si), and contacted Veronika Brvar and Tanja Rupnik from the same organization for future cooperation.

Sharing experiences is valuable for all participants, and at the Music Center in Ljubljana we are looking forward to excellent vocal work with our students and performances in Lyon, where they will be able to perform in a joint program with others and through the presentation of Slovenian composers.
